In 2017 the Parish Council adopted a ten-year management plan prepared by Swift Ecology. The plan provides a detailed description and evaluation of the common. It proposes a vision for the future of the common and sets management objectives for the ten years to 2027.
The full plan, a summary and the appendices are below:

The five-year work programme set our agenda for the first half of the management period. It proposes management plans for the different habitats: grassland, woodland, scrub and hedgerow, ponds and ditches. It identifies additional management tasks such as forming a management group and raising funds.
The first five-year plan is below, and the second plan is now being prepared.

The management plan includes objectives for restoring the ponds on the common and in 2020 we began the planning for this work which was completed in late 2021. The details are in the pond restoration plan below:

Since setting up the management steering group we have made some good progress against many of the management objectives. We can see the impact, for example gains in wildflowers since 2017 including sightings this summer of Southern Marsh-orchid. Insect life including butterflies, crickets and grasshoppers has been boosted, and we have a nesting Tree Pipit.
Details of our work and its impact are in the two reports below:
